I Am a Devotee of Love: What Spirituality Means to Me

I’ve never felt fully at home inside a single spiritual label. The deeper I’ve gone into my own healing and practice over the years, the more I’ve realized that love is the thread running through them all.

Heart Space of Gold isn’t about a singular tradition. It’s about creating a sanctuary for the many ways love shows up.

My path has been shaped by many lineages. I chant the Hanuman Chalisa with my harmonium, my breath, and my full heart everyday. I was drawn to spiritual figures like Neem Karoli Baba long before I understood why. His love felt familiar, like something I already knew. In him, I found Hanuman: a symbol of courage, surrender, and unconditional devotion.

However, I’ve also wept in the presence of Christ. His teachings of compassion, forgiveness, and service have shaped the way I hold space, the way I pray, and the way I strive to meet others with tenderness.

I’ve sat in silence with Buddhist teachers and writings, drawn from earth-based rituals, and found healing in the simple act of lighting a candle or walking barefoot on the ground.

None of this is about religion for me. It’s not about having the right answers or claiming a spiritual identity. It’s about relationship with the sacred, with the breath, and the aware presence that lives in all things.

In a world so often divided by belief systems, I try to return to the one thing that unites them all: love. That’s what I follow. That’s what I strive to embody, imperfectly, every day.

I meditate.I chant. I light incense. I say thank you to the trees. I whisper prayers that don’t have a name. I sit in silence. I move my body with reverence. I cry. I breathe. I begin again.
